How Servo Garage Doors Was Born
Servo started in 2015 with a repair call Marcus Deller almost didn’t take. A homeowner in New York City had been told by two different companies that her opener was dead and she needed a full replacement. The quotes were both over what a new unit plus labor should reasonably cost. She asked Marcus to take a look because a neighbor had his number. He opened the unit, tested the logic board, and found the failure in about twenty minutes. The fix was a forty-dollar part. She had been quoted a whole new system. Marcus photographed the failed board, showed her exactly what had gone wrong, fixed it, and charged her for the part and the hour. That was the day he decided the residential garage door industry needed a different kind of company. We’ve held to it since. Every customer sees the failed part before anyone quotes a replacement. That’s not a courtesy. It’s Clause 4 of the Haven Standard, and it’s been the rule from day one.
Marcus Deller’s Personal Connection to the Garage Door Trade
Before Servo existed, Marcus spent years as a commercial door technician. That work is less forgiving than residential. A dock door that won’t open stops a warehouse. A fire door that doesn’t seat properly fails an inspection. Commercial clients document everything. They want torque readings, photo evidence, written scopes of work. That environment trained Marcus to think in evidence, not reassurances. When he started taking residential calls, the difference was jarring. Homeowners were being asked to trust, but nothing was being shown to them. A technician would say a spring was worn and the whole system needed replacing, and the homeowner had no way to verify any of it. Marcus had grown up around mechanical work. Tools and machines made sense to him in a way that felt intuitive. The smell of a garage, the sound of a door that’s slightly out of balance, the feel of a torsion spring when it’s losing tension. These aren’t abstract signals to him. They’re a language he’s been reading for more than ten years. What keeps him in this trade is the moment a homeowner stops feeling helpless. When they see the photo of the worn cable or the snapped spring and they finally understand what happened, their whole posture changes. That moment is the point. If Marcus weren’t doing this, he’d probably be teaching it. The diagnostic side of the work, the part where you explain what you found and why it failed, is what he enjoys most. The door is rarely the problem. It’s usually the spring. And that distinction matters.
Meet Marcus Deller - The Person Behind Every Job

Marcus Deller is the Owner & Founder of Servo Garage Doors. He came up as a commercial door technician, worked on loading docks and industrial doors, and brought that documentation-obsessed mindset into residential service when he founded the company in 2015. He’s the one who wrote the Haven Standard, the five-point operating code every Servo location works under. Marcus doesn’t work behind a desk and he doesn’t manage from a distance. He still reviews job documentation, still calls customers on difficult cases, and still believes the best marketing is a garage door that works quietly and a customer who saw the evidence before they paid. Outside of the business, Marcus is a cyclist. He rebuilt his first bike from a box of parts as a teenager and has never stopped taking things apart to understand them. His personal commitment to every customer is simple: if we can’t show you what was wrong and explain exactly what we’re doing, we haven’t done our job.
Before
AfterOur Promise to Homeowners
Our promise is built on the Haven Standard, which we wrote to solve the problems Marcus saw in 2015. The first rule is to have it in writing. A flat price, a written scope of work, and a written warranty before anyone starts. No verbal estimates that grow later. No “we’ll see what we find.” Every job is quoted clearly and agreed to on paper first. The second rule is evidence. Photos and readings of what we actually found, shared with you before you approve any work. The third is no surprises. We don’t upsell a door when the spring failed. We don’t add scope creep while we’re working. The door is fine. It’s the spring that’s finished. That line is almost a company mantra. It means we diagnose the actual failure and fix that, not the fear of a bigger problem. That honesty has been the company’s reputation since the first service call in 2015.
Our Credentials

Every pro working under the Servo Garage Doors name is required to hold the license and insurance their state requires. That’s a network-wide requirement, not a suggestion. We can’t list one license number here because each location carries its own, issued by its own state, and we’d rather point you to your local team to verify theirs specifically. What we can tell you is that the requirement exists and is enforced before any technician represents the brand. The same goes for insurance and bonding. Every location is independently owned and operated, which means the people who show up at your door are local business owners with their own licenses on the line. We carry the standard across every market we serve.
Why this matters to a homeowner: you’re letting someone into your garage, around your family’s cars, and your stored belongings. You should be able to verify that the person working on your door is licensed and insured. Our documentation standard extends to credentials. Ask your local Servo team to see theirs. They’ll show you.
Rooted in the Communities We Serve
Servo Garage Doors operates across multiple regions, serving homeowners in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Brooklyn, Houston, Queens, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Manhattan, San Antonio, San Diego, and The Bronx. Each location is independently owned and operated by local garage door professionals who live and work in the area they serve. Haven does not pretend to be from anywhere. The local business is the franchisee. Their license, their trucks, their neighbors. What the network contributes is the standard they agree to work to, the documentation system that proves it, and the buying power that keeps prices honest for homeowners in every market.
