Common Questions
Do I need garage door experience to open a Servo location?
No. Our best franchisees often come from operations, sales, or field-service management, not the door trade itself. What you need is the willingness to run a business that lives or dies on documentation and follow-through. We train the technical side, and we train it thoroughly. What we can’t train is the instinct to show a customer the failed spring before quoting a replacement. You either have that or you don’t.
How much does it cost to open a Servo Garage Doors location?
Total investment typically ranges from $120,000 to $260,000 depending on your market, vehicle costs, and local build-out requirements. That’s the full picture: franchise fee, initial inventory of parts across all eight major brands we service, tooling, a wrapped service vehicle, software, insurance, and working capital for the first months. We will not give you a lowball number and then surprise you with “additional required expenses” later. The FDD has every number, and we’d rather you read it twice than write a check once.
Is financing available?
We don’t offer in-house financing, and we won’t pretend to. What we do is connect candidates with third-party lenders who understand home-service franchises, including SBA-approved lenders. Many of our franchisees use SBA 7(a) loans, rollovers from retirement accounts, or a combination of personal capital and conventional financing. We’ll help you structure it, but the loan comes from a bank, not from us. That separation is healthy.
Do I get an exclusive territory?
Yes. Each Servo location operates under a protected territory agreement defined by ZIP codes and population density, not by guesswork. Your territory is yours: your customers, your trucks, your reputation. We don’t sell overlapping territories and we don’t carve out exceptions when a national account wanders in. The territory is sized so a single owner-operator can realistically cover it without burning out, and so there’s enough demand to grow into a second and third truck.
How long is training, and where does it happen?
Training runs four weeks: two weeks in the field with a working Servo technician and two weeks on operations, quoting, and the documentation system that backs the Haven Standard. You’ll tear down and rebuild openers, learn spring math, and practice writing a flat price in front of a customer before touching a single tool. We also train you on the photo-record system, because that’s Clause 4 of the Haven Standard: the customer sees the failed part before anyone quotes a replacement. If you can’t do that on day one, you don’t open a truck on day 31.
What are the ongoing fees and royalties?
There’s a royalty and a brand fund contribution, and both are disclosed in plain language in the FDD. We don’t use tiered royalty games or “additional service fees” that show up after you sign. The percentage is fixed, predictable, and tied to gross revenue, not to some abstract metric we can redefine. You keep the margin you earn by running tight jobs. We take our percentage, and in return you get the brand, the buying power on parts across eight major brands, the documentation platform, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise backing your work. You’ll know the exact numbers before you ever pay a franchise fee.
How long does it take from signing to opening my doors?
Plan on 90 to 120 days. The clock starts when you sign the franchise agreement, and it covers territory mapping, vehicle wrap and outfitting, parts inventory, licensing and insurance setup in your state, and your four weeks of training. Some franchisees open in as little as 75 days if their state licensing moves fast. We don’t rush you into the field half-trained to hit a quarterly number. The door waits; an undertrained technician on a customer’s property is a liability no timeline justifies.
What support do I get after I open?
You get the Haven Standard, and that’s not a binder on a shelf. You get the documentation system that tracks every job, every photo record, and every written price. You get national buying power on parts for LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Clopay, Amarr, Wayne Dalton, Craftsman, and Raynor. You get a live support line for technical questions when you’re standing in a garage at 9 p.m. staring at a spring you’ve never seen fail that way. And you get the brand promise: 18,000+ garage doors made right since 2015, every one with a written price before we started and a documented record when we left. You’re not buying a logo. You’re buying the system that makes the logo mean something.
Who is the ideal Servo franchisee?
Someone who would rather show a customer a $40 logic board than sell them a $400 opener. Someone who writes a price down before a bolt comes off the truck. Someone who sees the words “call for a quote” and feels mildly offended, because Clause 1 of the Haven Standard is the whole point: flat, written price and written scope before any work starts. If you’re patient, precise, and allergic to scope creep, you’ll fit. If you close deals on charisma alone, you’ll hate it here.
What’s the next step if I’m interested?
Call us at (970) 536-1724 and ask for the franchise team. We’ll walk you through the FDD, answer your questions in plain English, and put you in touch with existing franchisees so you can ask them anything without us in the room. No high-pressure seminar, no “only one territory left in your market” routine. If it’s not a fit, we’ll tell you. If it is, we’ll show you the numbers and let you decide. The same way we quote a door: written, flat, and before anyone starts.
Still Have Questions?

The fastest way to get answers is to call (970) 536-1724 and talk to a real person. If you’d rather start with paper, submit the form below and we’ll send the FDD and a plain-language summary. Either way, you’ll get numbers, not a sales pitch.
